FLYKUP began with a simple idea — that shopping should feel warm, welcoming, and a little bit personal, just like sitting down for a cup of tea with a friend.
Our founder, Louise Jolley, grew up in Aberdeen, Scotland, where the Doric word “fly cup” is more than a phrase — it’s a way of life. In northeast Scotland, a fly cup means a quick, friendly cup of tea or coffee, often paired with a “fancy piece” (a sweet treat like a scone, shortbread, or slice of cake). But it’s not just about the drink. It’s about pausing for a moment, sharing good company, and feeling at home.
When Louise moved to Fredericksburg, she carried that tradition in her heart. She saw an opportunity to blend her Scottish heritage with her love for community by creating a boutique where people don’t just shop — they connect. That’s how FLYKUP was born.
At our Downtown Fredericksburg boutique, every visitor is invited to enjoy a fly cup moment. It’s Louise’s way of bringing Aberdeen hospitality across the Atlantic — a little taste of Scotland, right here in Virginia.
Louise is passionate about sharing her culture with her new community. From offering Scottish-inspired touches to curating a boutique filled with pieces that spark joy, her goal is to create a space where people linger, laugh, and leave with more than just a purchase — they leave with a story to share.
At FLYKUP, we believe every visit should feel like catching up with an old friend. And whether you’re stopping by for a quick browse or settling in with a warm cup of tea, you’ll always be part of our story.
